Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, ABUNESCO Rock Art TourCultural Tour1 hr. 30 min. Tour Description Join an Alberta Park's interpreter on a journey thorugh the archaeological preserve where you will investigate three panels of prehistoric images. On this tour you will learn about the significance of the UNESCO designation, rock art as a world wide phenomena, and the Blackfoot cultural history that makes Writing-on-Stone stand out amongst its UNESCO rock art peers. The tour is a low to moderate walk - it involves some stairs with no handrails. Tour is approximately 4-6 city blocks in length - completed over the period of an hour and a half. Tour Details
Important Information All participants need to arrive at the Visitor Centre 10-15 minutes prior to the start time of the tour to retrieve their tickets, use washroom facilties and fill water bottles. No smoking or pets permitted on programs or in the archaeological preserve. For your safety and comfort, please bring 1 litre of water, sunscreen, hat and insect repellent. Note footwear restrictions on this program: participants must wear sturdy closed toe and heel footwear; NO sandals or flip-flops allowed due to uneven surfaces and cacti. Accessibility This program is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Content recommended for ages 12 and up. 5 and under may be restricted based on extreme heat conditions. Amenities Pets are not permitted in the preserve and due to extreme heat conditions, are not allowed to be left in vehicles. Directions Tour starts at the Visitor Centre - located at prairie level east of the entrance to the park. Note: Some Tours may be available only from the Tour Park on a first-come-first-served basis. Arrival dates earlier than the online-reservation-window may also be available at the Tour Park. |
