Overview

Description

This 1,090 hectare park was acquired in 1971 and is situated on the northwest shore of Sturgeon Lake. Young’s Point is considered one of the best water-based resources in the Peace Country with a beautiful lake that protects over 150 species of birds. There is a boat launch for accessing the lake for fishing and water sports. Fourteen 14 kms of trails wind through the boreal forest.

Geography:

Abundant wildlife and waterfowl within nature's grasp, Young's Point Provincial Park harbours an impressive list of birdwatching opportunities as well as numerous species of fish, such as walleye, northern pike, perch, burbot,and whitefish which swim in Sturgeon Lake.


Recreation:

Bike park, beach, hiking trails and playgrounds are available recreational activities. Birdwatchers and photographers enjoy the scenic views from the shoreline and along the point. There is day use for picnics, and group use areas for private gatherings. During winter months, you are welcome to ice fish, skate, snowshoe or cross-country ski. Winter camping occurs near the day use shelter, and snowmobiling is only allowed on the lake.


Facilities:

There are 124 campsites to choose from, with the Big Horn loop lakeside. Garbage receptacles and a sani-dump are within the park boundaries, and there is a shower building with flush toilets. Day use rentals and group use rentals are available. The firewood is provided with your camping fees. There is a fish cleaning stand, an amphitheatre for events, and two boat launch areas.
