Located near the Hangingstone River, Hangingstone Provincial Recreation Area is 35km south of Fort McMurray offering a small rustic campground.

Recreation:

This is a smaller campground perfect for those looking to enjoy rustic camping. Other recreational opportunities are available at nearby parks, which are easily accessible with a short drive.


Facilities:

Hangingstone Provincial Recreation has 56 individual campsites that are unserviced. All campsites are outfitted with firepits and picnic tables. There are drinking water taps throughout the campground loops as well. There is a playground area as well as a picnic shelter.


Dump station available off-site nearby in the community of Fort McMurray, or at Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.


Nearby Attractions:

Maqua Lake Provincial Recreation Area (13km) offers a day use area with a non-motorized lake, ideal for paddling and picnicking. Gregoire Lake Provincial Park Store (25km) offers grocery and camping supplies, along with hard-scoop ice cream and firewood sales along with trails and a large day use area including a boat launch and beach area. Nearby community (35km) of Fort McMurray is fully serviced with a full range of stores and recreational amenities.
